Air Products Honored with Overall Community Care Award 2021 in China

Air Products (NYSE:APD) was honored with the “Overall Community Care Award 2021” at the 11th China Philanthropy Festival held in Shanghai on January 13 and 14, 2022, in recognition of its outstanding contributions and commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) in China. This is the seventh consecutive year that the company has been recognized at this influential event.

Air Products China Vice President Feng Yan represents the winners to speak at the award ceremony, sharing the company’s commitment to sustainability, sustained CSR programs and volunteering activities.

Co-organized annually by key Chinese mainstream media outlets including China.com, ChinaDaily.com.cn and Jiemian, the China Philanthropy Festival is a platform that advocates the spirit of charitable giving and undertakings. Its judging panel, which consists of leaders and experts from charitable organizations, institutions, consulting firms and the media, evaluates all candidates according to the indicators of sustainability, creativity, adaptability, credibility and level of influence.

Over the past seven years, Air Products has received the  “Overall Community Care Award” three times, the “Best Social Responsibility Brand Award” four times and the “Best Community Program Award” twice.

As part of the company’s efforts to actively drive and participate in a variety of CSR activities, its LIN (liquid nitrogen) Ambassador gas science education program serves to foster the next generation’s interest in innovation and scientific thinking through fun and safe LIN experiments. More than 150 sessions have been organized in over 20 cities, benefiting over 10,000 students and teachers in nearly 70 local schools.

Building on the success of this program, Air Products launched its Safe and Healthy Drinking Water initiative through the Air Products Foundation in 2020, which benefitted 17 rural schools in Xiangyuan County, Shanxi Province amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the program was continued in Shanxi and expanded to more locations in Western and Northern China, reaching more than 45,000 students in total.

In addition, Air Products employees have also actively participated in various charitable and voluntary activities to spread positive energy, including Henan Flood relief efforts and a donation campaign to support poverty alleviation in Bazhou, which is in Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

“Sustainability is at the core of Air Products’ strategy. Being recognized for the seventh consecutive year at the festival is a strong testament to the passion and active involvement of all our people in fulfilling Air Products’ higher purpose and contributing to a sustainable world,” said Saw Choon Seong, China President at Air Products. “We have been increasing our CSR efforts by leveraging our innovations and sustainable offerings even during the challenging COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond that, we will continue striving to make a positive impact on communities and create more value for our customers within this 14th Five Year Plan."
